How do I get veterinary experience without having any certifications?
You find a vet that is willing to allow you to volunteer first. You do whatever they ask you to, and when they are okay with it, they may let you watch surgeries or procedures or even be in a room during an examination if you are quiet and stay out of the way. If you prove that you are quiet, responsible, and helpful, you are likely to end up with a job as an animal caretaker. Then you can work your way up to helping the technician doing things like giving medications, collecting urine or stool, doing physical therapy, running tests and helping hold an animal in the exam room for a procedure. If you are good at that, the tech may assign you more actual tech duties like taking blood, putting in IVs, giving injections, interpreting tests and such. Every good vet has had at least one vet clinic in which they have worked. I worked at two and did an externship with a large animal research farm following the vet around to learn both large and small animals before vet school.
