How does one become a veterinary technician?
A registered or certified veterinary technician goes to school and passes an exam either at the state or national level. Once they have passed the exam and received their license they are able to suture, induce and monitor anesthesia and extract teeth. Vet assistants cannot do those tasks. Vet techs and assistants can draw blood, take radiographs, place IV catheters, place urinary catheters, perform dental cleanings, assist in surgery and many other tasks.
